Summary of MAN A22 Batches

Background information: In the late 2000s, SMRT desperately needed a replacement for their rapidly-ageing MB O405 rigid buses which are environmentally friendly and wheel-chair accessible friendly. MAN responded with the MAN NL323F, commonly known as the A22, in the following batches:

- Introduced in Dec 2010, trialled for 1 year
- Bodied with Egyptian MCV Evolution body, the only MAN A22 to have this body style
- Hanover EDS
- Denso LD8i Aircon
- Doors by Ventura Systems
- Onboard Wifi provided, LG Television unit installed
- Assigned to WLDEP and entered service on 961
- Later made appearances on 61, 106, 167, 851, 857, 858, 858A, 960, 963R, 966 and 971E.
- Deregistered on Nov 2014 and re-bodied with a Gemilang bodywork before being sent to Perth
- Rebodied by Gemilang with Lion's City Hybrid design, all MAN NL323Fs use this body work
- Registered between Sep 2011 and Feb 2013, they make up the first of the MAN A22 buses
- 200 units delivered in total
- Equipped with a MAN D2066 LUH-32 engine, Euro V compliant
- Mobitec Mobi LED, connected to an ICU 400 controller
- Masats doors
- Comes with Lion's Head design that becomes the distinctive feature of this bus; made of fibreglass, the attachment weighs approximately 100kg
- Registered between Jan 2013 to Mar 2014, these buses make up the second production batch of MAN NL323F buses
- Largely similar to Batch 1 buses, with minor aesthetic changes
- Comes with door movement markings
- Capacity of 90 passengers(38 seating, 52 standing), later units installed with a modified seating arrangement which increases standing capacity, for a carrying capacity of 91 passengers(35 seating, 56 standing), applicable to buses with the following registration: SMB1341U, SMB1363G – SMB1420A, all BSEP Batch 2 buses
