Tunnelling under existing buildings

believe it nor not - new MRT tunnels are being constructed right under some buildings, even under the pre-war conservation shophouses.
I have found several research articles online regarding the construction of railway tunnels right under old pre-war shophouses for the Downtown line:
https://www.geocasehistoriesjournal.org ... JGCH_3_3_2
https://www.researchgate.net/publicatio ... _Singapore
https://www.lta.gov.sg/content/dam/ltag ... e_book.pdf
There are also other research articles of tunneling under existing buildings overseas:

Tunnelling under buildings may look simple or even nothing special. But engineering wise, it is very complicated and lots of works and engineering measures are done to ensure everything goes smoothly and safely.
